Playing for Keeps
A grim reminder for Children’s Day.
This piece uses the universal nostalgia of a childhood game of marbles—canicas—to illustrate the high-stakes reality of climate change. By depicting the Earth as a fragile glass marble about to be flicked into the unknown, the illustration captures the irony of adult games played with a future that doesn't belong to them. The high-contrast palette and raw line work emphasize a sense of urgency: in this game, there are no do-overs.
